• May 21, 2011: A flag retirement ceremony was held at Gabe Nesbit park in McKinney on Armed Forces Day.

• May 7, 2011: The Color Guard presented the colors at the Plano East JROTC Awards Ceremony. Compatriots participating in uniform were Alan Roach JROTC VP, Howard Roach, Bill Neisel, Bob Flagg, Don Babbs, Ann and Don Sielert, and Carolyn and Dan Reed. They represented the Ambassador Fletcher Warren, Denton, McKinney and Plano chapters. The Color Guard Unit was seated up front and together! LTC (Ret.) Aikens, Military Advisor of the Plano East JROTC Panther Battalion, gave special recognition to our group and many kind words for our support in Plano.

• May 3, 2011: Color guard members received the Bernardo De Galvez medal at the Plano Chapter meeting.

• April 25, 2011: The color guard participated in a memorial service for Compatriot Don Rector.

• April 20, 2011: The SAR color guard presented a program at the VA hospital in Bonham, Texas. The VA hospital later sent a thank you letter.

• April 15, 2011: Members from the Plano, McKinney, Dallas, Ambassador Fletcher Warren and Denton Chapter were joined by Bill Marrs, State President and Larry Stephens State Historian at the North Texas State University to present several awards in conjunction with the TXSSAR archives.

• April 13, 2011: The North Texas Color Guard presented the colors at the funeral of Lt. Robert Welch III from Wylie, Texas who was killed in action in Afganistan.

• April 9, 2011: The Color Guard presented the colors at Haggard Park in Plano by invitation from the Plano police and fire Departments.

• March 29, 2011: A flag certificate was presented to Lute Riley Honda in Richardson.

• March 19, 2011: The quarterly meeting was an 8:30AM breakfast meeting at Bill Smith's Cafe in McKinney. Here are the minutes.

• March 17, 2011: SAR members from the Plano, McKinney and Denton chapters participated in flag certificate presentations for the Edmund Terrill chapter in Sherman at the American Bank of Texas yesterday. Flag certificates were presented to 13 branches of the American Bank of Texas in Sherman by Jim Jones-TXSSAR President.

• March 2, 2011: The Color Guard posted the colors for the Plano Symphony Orchestra at The Eisemann Center this morning.

• February 19, 2011: The Captain Charles Croxall Chapter of TSDAR and the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter, Denton Chapter and McKinney Chapter of TXSSAR held a joint meeting at the Fairlie Community Center in Fairlie, TX. Here is a slide show of the event and the meeting minutes.
  

• February 8, 2011: Members of the Plano, McKinney, Denton and Ambassador Fletcher Warren chapters attended a ceremony for the Wylie High School ROTC.

• Attached is a slideshow of the Denton, McKinney and Plano Color Guards in action presenting the colors at the Plano Symphony's "Introduction to Music" Concerts for the area 5th grade schools on January 27 and 28, 2011. Students from the Frisco ISD, Wylie ISD and private schools attended.

• The color guard was present at the funeral of two Vietnam veterans at the DFW National Cemetery on January 14, 2011. Also, here is a photo showing the SAR colorguard, courtesy of the North Texas Patriot Guard Riders www.tpgr.org.

• "The Sons of the American Revolution Color Guard provided an Honor Guard at the Funeral of Louis Acosta of Plano on December 31, 2010. Louis has been a Plano Resident since 1978. Born 1933, Lou served 27 years in the Marine Corp and worked for Rockwell International as a Computer Engineer. Lou was buried at DFW National Cemetery. • On December 17, 2010 Wendell Edwards, John Greer, James Roddy, Larry Freeman, Amb Fletcher Warren Chapter and Don Seilert and Don Babbs helped to distribute gift bags for the Veterans at the Sam Rayburn Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home in Bonham.

• The McKinney Chapter was in the Plano Parade with other SAR chapters on December 11, 2010.

• The monthly chapter meeting was held at Compatriot Peter McLellan's home in McKinney on December 9, 2010.

• Don Sielert attended the Meet The Troops at DFW airport on November 24, 2010.

• Peter McClellan represented the McKinney Chapter at the November BoM in Houston. Peter was elected to receive the Patriots Medal at the 2011 State Convention.

• John Greer and Don Seilert helped Present the Colors at the Chartering Ceremony of the new CAR Chapter in Paris, Texas at 10:00 AM at the Paris Public Library November 20, 2010 This new CAR Chapter is sponsored by the Joseph Legion DAR Chapter.

• The joint DAR/SAR meeting was held on November 13, 2010 in McKinney. These are the meeting minutes.

• Compatriot John Greer did his Timothy Murphy program for the Van Zandt SAR Chapter on October 16, 2010.

• Compatriot John Greer assisted with the Patient Carnival on October 14, 2010 at the Bonham VA hospital. The SAR provided the deserts.

• The regular monthly meeting was held on October 14, 2010 at the El Chico Restaurant in McKinney. These are the meeting minutes.

• On September 23, 2010 Don Seilert and John Greer participated in a Flag Program at the Denton Chapter monthly meeting for the Good Samaritan Village.

• On September 18, 2010 in honor of Constitution Day members of the Denton, Plano and McKinney Chapters assisted the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter with their annual awards program at the Greenville Library. Members assisting in uniform were: Bob Flagg (Denton), Jim Johnson (Denton), Dan Reed (Denton). Don Seilert (McKinney and Plano), Drake Peddie (Plano), Howard Roach (Plano), Wendell Edwards (AFW) and John Greer (AFW).

• The regular monthly meeting was held on September 9, 2010 at the El Chico Restaurant in McKinney. These are the meeting minutes.

• Compatriots Peter McClellan and John Greer represented the McKinney Chapter at the Board of Managers meeting in Austin June30-August 1st, 2010.

• Compatriots Mike Ghormley, Don and Ann Seilert, Donald Babbs, John Greer from the McKinney Chapter and Wendell and Linda Edwards , James Roddy and Larry Freeman from the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter helped to feed over 400 Veterans and hospital employees June 30, 2010 at the Bonham VA hospital.

• The May 22, 2010 meeting was our annual flag retirement ceremony at the Gabe Nesbitt Park in McKinney.

• On May 15, 2010, the SAR Color Guard presented the Colors at Collin County Historical Commission's Preservation Celebration & Awards Ceremony at the First Christian Church in Plano.

• The McKinney SAR Chapter greeted returning troops at DFW airport on April 14, 2010.

• A memorial service for Compatriot Willie Walker was held at Pecan Grove Cemetery on April 11, 2010.

• On December 7, 2009 in the Collin County Commissioners Court, Councilman Joe Jaynes presented the McKinney SAR chapter a proclamation designating December 7, 2009 as Pearl Harbor Rememberance Day in Collin County.

• The monthly meeting was November 12, 2009 at the El Dorado Country Club. These are the SAR meeting minutes.

• Collin County Commissioner Joe Jaynes presented President Don Babbs with a proclamation for our McKinney SAR chapter denoting November 11 as Veterans Day in Collin County.
  

• On November 11, 2009, Compatriots Wendell Edwards and John Greer attended the Veterans Day program at the Bonham High School football stadium. This was one of only four Veterans Day programs in Texas that was done by the V.A. Afterwards, Wendell and John helped serve lunch to all veterans attending.

• The monthly meeting was jointly held with the McKinney DAR chapter on October 10, 2009. Dr. McCaslin of NTSU gave a very interesting program on the comparison of the lives of Robert E. Lee and George Washington. These are the SAR meeting minutes.

• McKinney Chapter President Don Babbs visited the Texas Veterans Home in Bonham on Thursday, October 8, 2009. President Babbs represented the McKinney SAR Chapter and James Roddy represented the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter. Together with the VFW they served dinner and desert to the Veterans.

• McKinney Chapter members John Greer, Robert Hall, Dan Reed, and Dr. Gary Sisson participated in the Color Guard Saturday September 26, 2009 in recognizing three Revolutionary War soldiers who are buried in lost graves somewhere in Red River County, Texas. There was a memorial grave dedication in the Clarksville City Cemetery for the following three Revolutionary War soldiers: James Potter Collins, David Strickland, and John Tollett, Sr. The William Barron and Red River Chapters did a wonderful job with the ceremony. A special thanks to Mike Everheart for his hard work coordinating the event.

• The monthly meeting was September 10, 2009 at the home of Compatriot Nathan and Wanda White. These are the meeting minutes.

• McKinney Chapter president Don Babbs rode in the Plano parade on July 4, 2009.

• On Saturday June 27, 2009 Compatriots Wendell Edwards and John Greer gave out 5 Heroism medals at the Audie Murphy days in Greenville.

• Compatriots Wendell Edwards and John Greer helped Volunteer Services at the Bonham VA Hospital Friday June 26, 2009 in a pre-Independence day cookout for the staff and patients.

• On June 16, 2009 Compatriot John Greer went on a fishing outing with two disabled veterans.

• On June 14, 2009 Compatriot John Greer participated in uniform at the Hunt County Fairgrounds in a Flag Day presentation.

• The monthly meeting was June 11, 2009 at the El Dorado Country Club. The guest speaker Chief Roma discussed the McKinney fire deparment and emergency medical services. These are the meeting minutes.

• Compatriots Wendell Edwards and John Greer gave out Good Citizenship pins to 4th grade students June 1, 2009 at Lamar, Bowie, and Carter elementary schools. On June 3, 2009 they gave out pins at the Austin school in Commerce.

• Compatriot John Greer participated in the North Texas Color Guard at the May 26th Memorial Day service at the Rosewood Cemetery in Commerce, Texas.

• The McKinney Chapter did a flag retirement ceremony on Veteran's Day May 16, 2009 at the Gabe-Nesbitt Park in McKinney, Texas. A letter and poem from World War II veteran Bill Compton to President President Don Babbs.

• The monthly meeting was April 9, 2009 at the El Dorado Country Club. A special remembrance of Compatriot William Kenneth (Willie) Walker, who passed away today, was led by Peter McLellan. These are the meeting minutes.

• The monthly meeting was March 12, 2009 at the El Dorado Country Club. Plano Chapter President Drake Peddie spoke about the role of privateers in the American Revolution.

• In March Compatriot John Greer donated a large book cart to the VA Hospital in Bonham for their library.

• Compatriots Robert Hall and Willie Walker performed in the color guard for the Plano Symphony Orchestra for local 5th graders on March 4, 2009.

• McKinney SAR Chapter members met with the John Abston DAR on Saturday February 14, 2009 at the historic Heard-Craig Carriage House.

• The monthly meeting was February 12, 2009 at the El Dorado Country Club. Texas State President Harry Fife was guest speaker.

• There was a nice article about the Bob Tomes presentation in the Friday, January 9, 2009 edition of the "McKinney Neighbors" section ot the Dallas Morning News.

• The monthly meeting was January 8, 2009 at Rick's Chop House at 7 pm in downtown McKinney. Compatriot Nathan White gave us an update of the status of the SAR both nationally and in Texas.

• The monthly meeting was December 11, 2008 at the Nathan and Wanda White in McKinney. A delightful Christmas meal was served. McKinney businessman Bob Tomes talked about what the U.S. flag means to him.

• The monthly meeting was Saturday, November 8, 2008 at the First Christian Church of McKinney. The McKinney SAR chapter met jointly with the McKinney DAR chapter. Lt. Colonel Eric Holmes gave an interesting talk on rebuilding Iraq.

• October 31, 2008: SAR members from the Plano and McKinney chapters talked to approximately 200 history students representing eight classes at Murphy Middle School.

• On October 29, 2008 Compatriots Milton Lentz and Gary Coats delivered underwear and books which were donated to the Bonham VA Hospital, Voluntary Services by the McKinney SAR Chapter.

• October 24-26, 2008: Several McKinney chapter members attended the Board of Managers meeting at the Hilton Garden Inn in Temple, Texas.

• The monthly meeting was Thursday, October 9, 2008 at the McKinney Country Club. The evening guest speaker was Don Jacobs of the Texas Fallen Soldiers Project.

• September 20, 2008: McKinney Compatriots Milton Lentz, Peter McLellan and Nathan E. White went to "Meet and Greet The Troops" at DFW airport.

• The monthly meeting was Thursday, September 11, 2008 at the Steak Kountry Restaurant. The guest speaker was Collin County Sheriff Terry Box.

• Compatriots Wendell Edwards, President of the Ambassador Fletcher Warren Chapter and John Greer of the McKinney Chapter led the annual Flag Day program on the steps of the Hunt County Courthouse on June 14, 2008.

• The monthly meeting was Thursday, June 12, 2008 at the Steak Kountry Restaurant. The guest speaker described the life and times of Collin McKinney, who founded Collin County and the city of McKinney.

• Compatriot John Greer presented SAR Good Citizenship pins to 4th grade students at Travis, Bowie and Crockett elementary schools in Greenville, Texas on June 3rd and 4th, 2008.

• The monthly meeting was Saturday, May 17, 2008 from 2 - 5 PM at Valley Creek Elementary School Park in McKinney. Members witnessed and helped retire worn U. S. flags, feasted on hamburgers, hot dogs and desserts, and enjoyed each other's company. Members of the McKinney and Allen DAR Chapters also participated.

• The monthly chapter meeting was on April 10, 2008 at the Steak Kountry restaurant in McKinney. A very interesting program was given by Mrs. Kathy Gregory, Director of Voluntary Service from the VA North Texas Health Care System in Bonham. She gave a report on the dollar amount of items that had been given by the SAR chapters. A large number of items were brought by members for her to take back to be used as needed.

• Several members of the McKinney Chapter attended the SAR State Convention at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Arlington, Texas on March 27-29, 2008.

• The monthly chapter meeting was on March 13, 2008 at the Steak Kountry restaurant in McKinney.

• The monthly chapter meeting was on February 21, 2008 at the Steak Kountry restaurant in McKinney.

• McKinney Chapter President Milton Lentz donated five ladies purses to the veterans hospital in Bonham, Texas on January 28, 2008.

• Compatriot John Greer presented his Timothy Murphy program for the Mesquite SAR Chapter on January 17, 2008. The Mesquite Chapter gave him a check for his presentation which he endorsed and donated to the Patriots fund.

• The monthly chapter meeting was on January 10, 2008 at the Steak Kountry restaurant in McKinney. FPG Nathan White installed the 2008 officers.
