On September 11, 2006 the Bethany Elementary School started its "Celebrates Star Spangled Banner Week".

Principal Denise Bleggi invited the Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) to participate in the Star Spangled banner Celebration. Part of the week celebration included September 14th, which was the date when Francis Scott Key wrote the words that are now our National Anthem.


The Plano and McKinney SAR Chapters provided the Color Guard for the Bethany Elementary School. The students provided the leaders in the pledges to the United States Flag and the Texas Flag and sang the National Anthem.

Denise Bleggi led the program with the students handling many of the activities. The SAR answered questions from the students after the Assembly. Attending from the SAR was Richard Arnold, Mike Radcliff and Dan Reed.
